(FORT)  Middle School visits Molecular Ecology Lab.  On February 12, FORT geneticists Sara Oyler-McCance and Jennifer Fike hosted a group of 6th – 8th grade students from Polaris Expeditionary Learning School during a week-long intensive study focused on tracking creatures.  As part of their experience, 14 students learned how FORT scientists use DNA analysis to identify and track animals.  The visit began with an introduction on how DNA from wildlife species is used to address wildlife management questions.  The students then extracted DNA from a strawberry and were taken on a tour of the FORT Molecular Ecology Lab.  (Sara Oyler-McCance, Fort Collins, CO, 970-226-9197)
