Confluence Retirement

Due to the feedback from stakeholders and our commitment to not adversely impact USGS science activities that Confluence supports, we are extending the migration deadline to January 2023.

In an effort to consolidate USGS hosted Wikis, myUSGS’ Confluence service is targeted for retirement. The official USGS Wiki and collaboration space is now SharePoint. Please migrate existing spaces and content to the SharePoint platform and remove it from Confluence at your earliest convenience. If you need any additional information or have any concerns about this change, please contact Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Here are questions we received from the app during the meeting. We will link information from here as we gather it.

"Score" indicates how many additional votes a question or idea got after it was submitted. Questions are grouped by day.

1USGS actually needs a data management implementation team which covers all aspects of the data life cycle. Actual full time helpers vs volunteers.29Discussed at meeting - next step? In report?2017-05-16 14:47:04
2Comment. Need OEI support for enterprise implementations of open source.25Discuss how to move foward. In report?2017-05-16 14:50:09
3All of the talk about integrated science is great, but we aren't talking about the users . How do we engage with them and make sure we are meeting their needs?17We had an initial discussion group at the workshop. Is there interest in pursuing this further?2017-05-16 14:23:21
4The community of practice is very committed, but we need policy to drive these principles to the majority USGS staff who are not at this meeting.17Thoughts on this? Will have report, will make plan for outreach that is easier to digest. Communication plan input. Who is interested to help?2017-05-16 14:48:07
5Comment on communication strategies: more frequent, short, digestible communications may be lots better than a big comprehensive annual report.14Communication plan - suggestions? Put out for comment.2017-05-16 14:30:03
6The DOI network is a major limiting factor for sharing Big Datasets. When can we get download speeds that are comparable to the commercial world?13Make sure this is in the roadmap report.2017-05-16 15:00:00
7"Facilitating science is important" not only at a bureau level but at an agency and inter-agency one. How can that coordination happen at upper levels of govt?12Asked at the meeting? (find response)2017-05-16 09:38:55
