Between 2013 and 2017 the USGS Community for Data Integration funded a series of projects collectively known as the Data at Risk (DaR) project, whose objectives centered around identifying, preserving, and publishing USGS legacy data. Work conducted in 2016 and 2017 in particular produced 11 USGS data releases, documenting the resources required and challenges at each lifecycle stage. This poster summarizes those project-level data to illustrate the practical realities and considerations of preserving USGS legacy data as official data releases.
