Meet the Bureau of Reclamation’s Yuma Area Office Giant Salvinia Program
Nicholas (Nick) Heatwole is an Environmental Protection Specialist for the Bureau of Reclamation at the Yuma Area Office (YAO). Mr. Heatwole studied at the University of Arizona receiving a BS in Renewable Natural Resources with an emphasis in Wildlife Ecology in 1998. Nick has over 20 years of experience in the environmental field, working with Reclamation on NEPA and Endangered Species issues since 2005. He has been working with invasive species issues and managing YAO's Giant Salvinia Program since 2010.
Aaron Murphy is an Ecologist with the US Bureau of Reclamation Technical Service Center (TSC) in Denver, CO. Mr. Murphy has a BS in Conservation Biology and Ecology and MS in Conservation Technology from the Florida Institute of Technology. He has been involved with the research and management of invasive species since 2017, and began supporting YAO’s Giant Salvinia Program in 2019.
