The USGS is increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models to enhance scientific investigations and develop applied algorithms. Much work is being done in this area across the bureau and there are a variety of tools to support AI/ML efforts. Within the Cloud Hosting Solutions (CHS) environment, Amazon SageMaker, a machine learning service that builds, trains, and deploys machine learning models, is available for use.
The Office of Enterprise Information wants to encourage the growth of AI/ML to meet the 21st Century Science goals. To facilitate the adoption and use of cloud-based AI/ML tools, CHS is bringing on additional experienced resources to provide customer support for the CHS AI/ML service offerings. These resources will be available for CHS customers to evaluate and advance their AI/ML projects at no cost.
Customers looking to leverage these resources or general CHS supported AI/ML inquires can start by filling out a brief form here. In turn, the CHS AI/ML service lead will contact you to learn more about your project and provide guidance on your project.
What does CHS cover?*
* At a minimum, funding and support are available through June 30, 2021.
Those interested in learning more about AI/ML across the bureau are encouraged to join the Community for Data Integration (CDI) AI/ML Community of Practice.
