The Community for Data Integration (CDI) and its Citizen Science Working Group (CSWG) are inviting your thoughts and soliciting an indication of interest for a Citizen Science Workshop that we are aiming to hold in late spring 2012.

We are proposing to hold a USGS-wide meeting of citizen science project leaders inside USGS and in other partner organizations to raise awareness of citizen science, its potential uses and benefits, share best practices for establishing citizen science projects, working with volunteers, collecting and validating data, education, and communication.

We envision the workshop being accessible to those who cannot attend in person, via WebEx and teleconference access.

If programs or projects are unable to participate in-person or via remote access measures, we still want to capture information and details about all projects so that an intended workshop report and website can capture the most complete picture of citizen science activities within the USGS and partners.

We envision holding the workshop within the contiguous US.

Please see the attachment for more details about the proposed workshop and how you can get involved in the CDI CSWG.
