Does Your Project Make a Difference?
The New South Wales (Australia) Department of Environment and Conservation created this handbook to provide guidance to anyone involved in education or sustainability projects development. This primer defines and describes the importance of evaluation, offers a glossary of evaluation terms and guides someone new to evaluation through the project development process, keeping assessment of outcomes in mind. Using a logic model format, this guide provides real-world examples of each step of the process and describes how to build an evaluation framework that supports an outcome hierarchy. Finally, the authors emphasize using evaluation findings for project improvement. This handbook describes indicators of the ‘ultimate’ outcome that could only result from behavior change of people, but does not explicitly make the connection. The chronological approach of this handbook is an easy to use comprehensive introduction to project design and evaluation.
