This article focuses in on a conflict over motorized use in Voyageurs National Park in Northern Minnesota, on the border of Ontario. The conflict began in the 1960s over the location of the park and since then, each side of the conflict has fought using litigation. The victories on either side in the courts are short-lived, however, due to changing politics. In the end, no one has really one, least of all the National Park Service. Furthermore, it seems that neither the motorized use proponents nor the environmentalist have won.
