This study explores the spatial variation element of people's attitudes toward brown bears living nearby. Though the population of bears considered in the study is the smallest in the world, there are still problems with human-wildlife conflict in the French Pyranees. The authors used questionnaires to find out what influences residents' attitudes toward the bears and found that the major predictors are spatial variables such as place of birth and county of residence.
