Who Really Matters? A Stakeholder Analysis Tool

Short Description

The relative importance of stakeholders in achieving project outcomes is an aspect of project planning and implementation that is often neglected by project teams, who tend to lack the human capital or social capital to deliver this aspect of the project goals. Many stakeholder analysis tools focus on the population for the project and not the people resources required to implement the project. This gap in resources led to the creation of this stakeholder analysis tool that is better suited for project planning, and features a 16 square matrix with two axes focusing on stakholders who are infuential (power over the organization or management of the project) or important (power over the project implementation or outcome adoption). This paper discusses cases of implementing the tool by project teams, and revisions and improvements that could be made to the process.
