Managing the nation's forests and surrounding communities depends on the ability to anticipate change in human activity and responding appropriately. This database of demographic trends in US counties allows land managers and policy-makers to access a wealth of recent infomation on social and economic characteristics, community demographics, and national forest information.

The Forest Service was established in 1905 and is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Forest Service manages public lands in national forests and grasslands, which encompass 193 million acres.
