Landscape-scale Energy Action Plan (LEAP)
Energy, particularly renewable energy, is one of the highest priorities of the DOI. As energy workloads increase, so do conflicts with Federal Trust Resources related to energy projects.
The Mountain-Prairie Region's Landscape-scale Energy Action Plan (LEAP) is a suite of web-based tools, data, and analyses being developed in cooperation with the USGS and ECOS-IPaC. When completed, LEAP will provide project proponents, managers, and biologists with spatial data and landscape-scale vulnerability assessments for Trust Resources, project-specific Conservation Measures, and information on relevant regulatory policies.
Collectively, the tools and information provided by LEAP will enable developers to make informed siting decisions earlier in the planning process, and help reduce conservation conflicts. LEAP will also enable Service personnel to perform their duties more effectively, efficiently, and with greater consistency region-wide.
